The Neil A. Kjos Music Company publishes educational music primarily for schools, churches, and private music studios.

  • Choral: We publish octavos and educational materials for use in sacred and secular settings. We are not accepting submissions for vocal solos, nor for works accompanied by large instrumentation. If the music is an arrangement, it will need to be accompanied by a copy of the original source material. Copyrighted music and/or text that is not accompanied by a letter of permission will not be reviewed. Please send 2 copies of each piece that you are submitting. Submissions accompanied by a live recording and an engraving file (Sibelius preferred) are encouraged.

  • Piano/Keyboard: We are currently accepting submissions for early elementary through intermediate levels. Composers should submit at least five different works in a variety of grade levels. In addition, please include a brief letter, resume or bio informing us of your teaching experience and education. (Note: The Neil A. Kjos Music Company does not publish organ works.) Please also read the general submission guidelines below.

  • String Orchestra: String music composed or arranged for students in elementary through senior high is of special interest. Please include a conductor’s score and CD recording for any music you wish to submit. MIDI recordings are acceptable, but are not preferred. We are not accepting submissions for full orchestra, chamber ensembles or solo repertoire. Please also read the general submission guidelines below.

  • Concert Band: Our Concert Band reviews take place in the Spring. All submissions must be received by March 15th. To be considered, please send a conductor's score and CD recording of each piece. MIDI recordings are acceptable, but are not preferred. Please also read the general submission guidelines below.

  • Jazz: Please include a conductor’s score and CD recording for any music you wish to submit. Please also read the general submission guidelines below.

GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • All music and text must be original or in the public domain. Material that is protected by copyright will only be considered if permission from the copyright owner is included. If the material is arranged from a public domain source, please include a copy of the original source material.
  • We do not accept submissions that are under review elsewhere.
  • Electronic submissions (email, fax) are not permitted.
  • All submissions must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped mailer (depending on the size of your submission), so that we may return your manuscript(s) if necessary.
  • Please include a brief statement discussing why you think your music may be of interest to students and teachers, and provide a brief biographical sketch of yourself.
  • The length of time it takes to review a submission can vary. We will advise you of the approximate time the process will take upon submission.

You may send your submission materials to:
