ONCE TO EVERY MAN AND NATION
Anne McGinty. Based on three motifs - a melodic triplet figure from the hymn "Ebenezer," a rhythmic punctuation and the interval of the tritone - this piece musically represents the ongoing choice we all must make between good and evil. Clusters, polychords, unrelated chordal progressions, and the displacement of the rhythmic flow add to the conflict and propel this vivid composition.
