Beyond the Blue - Score

Beyond the Blue conveys composer Anthony O'Toole's love of the ocean and all it contains. The first part of the piece’s musical journey mimics the physical journey towards the ocean, with its rhythmic motor gradually propelling forward with rising harmonies and new layers and voices added culminating in the arrival of the full ensemble. A more lyrical sections follows, but it still contains the strong pulse. The themes are developed before a recapitulation and an exciting build up to the finale. Beyond the Blue is a well-crafted and cleverly-developed piece of artistic substance that is accessible to younger musicians.
