I Want Jesus to Walk with Me

John Helgen’s setting of this earnest spiritual uses a light shuffle rhythm with a gospel-style piano part. The opening verse may be sung by a soloist, and the whole choir and piano player can stretch out in the final “walk with me” section which may be repeated as many times as necessary, leading to a big ending! For the Lenten season, but also useful throughout the church year.
