Michael Hassell

Michael R. Hassell has held numerous ecclesiastical music positions since the age of twelve, serving congregations in Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Christian Science, United Methodist, Episcopal, Anglican, and United Church of Christ churches. He is also a composer, pianist, organist, theatrical producer/ director, and performer who has made his home in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area for more than twenty years.

Mike is currently part of a creative team working on the development of English language curricula for children overseas, and for many years he has been-and still is-pianist and arranger for the regional big band "Sound of Swing."

His academic work encompassed undergraduate and graduate studies in composition at Berklee College of Music and Boston University. He has taught theory courses at his alma mater where he also founded the Berklee College Choir.
