Miriam Overholt

Miriam Overholt is an active composer who is frequently commissioned to write for orchestras and choirs. Her music has been widely performed and has been featured at the prestigious Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, Illinois. She is director of Camp da Capo, a chamber music retreat for adult wind and string players sponsored by Chamber Music at the Barn in Wichita, Kansas, and is also the Director of Music for Church of the Savior in Wichita.

Much of Mrs. Overholt’s composition background comes from her studies with Dr. John Levitt and Dr. Walter Mays, Distinguished Professor of Music at Wichita State University. Gaelic Gathering is the third piece in her trilogy of music for strings inspired by the British Isles. Irish Fantasy and A Scottish Journey are the other two works in this trilogy. Neil A. Kjos Music Company has published all three works separately.
