Peter Coraggio

Peter Coraggio, Professor Emeritus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, is a distinguished pianist recognized for his extraordinary artistry. His vast musical range of keyboard literature encompasses the greatest of the classics to the most contemporary explorations. Coraggio is a graduate of the Juilliard School. Among his noted teachers have been Gordon Stanley, James Friskin, and Wolfgang Rose.

A prolific writer, Coraggio's series The Art of Piano Performance is available in the United States by Neil A. Kjos Publishing, in Japan by Chopin Publishing, and in Korea by Choon Chu Sa Publishing. His edition of Debussy's Children's Corner, which includes a discussion on Debussy's style and suggestions for performance, is published in Japan by Chopin Publishing. A series of study guides written in collaboration with Joseph Bloch, Professor Emeritus of the Juilliard School, have been published in Japan by Zen-On Company. These books include Debussy's Preludes for Piano Books 1 and 2, Schumann's Kinderszenen, Opus 15, Chopin's Nocturnes, and Haydn's Keyboard Sonatas. Coraggio has recently completed a series of eighteen monthly articles on piano performance for Musica Nova Magazine of Tokyo.

Coraggio is the President of Arts in Performance, an association dedicated to the advancement of young artists by presenting a variety of cultural events pertaining to the performing arts. A stimulating lecturer and teacher, he is in continual demand to coach students, conduct master-classes and to present performance workshops and lecture-recitals on a wide range of topics.
