Zach Wallmark

Zach Wallmark is Assistant Professor of Musicology at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. He received his Ph.D. in Musicology from UCLA, his M.A. in Musicology/Ethnomusicology from University of Oregon, and he received a B.M. in Music Performance (String Bass) from New York University. As a scholar, he has published his research on the cognitive science of music in leading academic journals, and has appeared as a speaker at numerous national and international conferences.

In addition to his musicological work and teaching responsibilities at SMU, Zach is an accomplished composer of original works and arrangements. His work for string orchestra, Rue de Royal was selected as a JW Pepper “Editor’s Choice” selection. Other publications with Kjos include: Transylvanian Tango, Labyrinth and the Mad King, and Madrigals from the Italian Renaissance and Coronation Fanfare (for full orchestra).
