Wendy Whitford

Wendy Whitford earned her Bachelor of Music in Education from West Virginia University in 1991 and Master of Music in Education from James Madison University in 1999. She currently teaches orchestra and band at North Fork Middle School in rural Virginia. Under her leadership, the North Fork music program grew dramatically and has served up to 75% of the student population. Ms. Whitford was the North Fork Teacher of the Year in 2002 and the Shenandoah County Teacher of the Year in 2004. In 2014, Ms. Whitford received the James Madison University Outstanding Music Educator Alumni Award. Ms. Whitford is passionate about teacher education and has mentored hundreds of practicum students, student teachers, and novice educators throughout her career. Ms. Whitford also enjoys family time, hiking, and sword fighting.
