Hannah Mahr
A lifelong Minnesotan, Hannah Mahr has enjoyed making music and creating art ever since she was a very young child; she does it because it helps her "let out all sorts of emotions."
Presently an 11-year-old 6th grader attending Northfield Middle School in Northfield, Minnesota, she began her piano studies at age 5 and started learning the horn when she joined the 5th grade band. She is actively involved in the Northfield Youth Choirs program, and has recently enjoyed auditioning for roles in local theater productions. She also performs with Northfield's Bethel Lutheran Church youth bell choir.
While a student at Sibley Elementary School, Hanna was a member of the student council and was active in the safety patrol program. Hanna supports the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota and has raised more than $10,000 for them over the past three summers. She has accompanied her father to music festivals and on band tours to Singapore, Mexico, Norway and Thailand. Her best friend is her older sister, Jenna, who also composed band works when coming up through the ranks of the Northfield bands. She is the daughter of Timothy and Jill Mahr.
