Janice McAllister

Janice L. McAllister is a graduate of the University of Utah. She teaches with the Mountain West String Academy and has a private teaching studio where she teaches violin, viola, and cello. As co-director of the Cache Valley New Horizons Orchestra, Ms. McAllister is an advocate for providing a community musical experience for adults who have no music experience or have been inactive for many years.

Ms. McAllister has served as faculty member of the Utah State University Summer Music Clinic and has presented clinic sessions at music educator’s conferences including the American String Teachers Association National Conference. She was named “Secondary Educator of the Year” in 1998 by the Utah Chapter of ASTA and honored by the Utah Music Educators Association with their “Superior Accomplishment Award” for the 2002-03 year. Mc Allister is a past president of the Utah Chapter of ASTA and was selected to be a participant in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program for 2006.

As violinist, she has performed with the Utah Festival Opera Orchestra, Camerata Werdenfels in Garmisch, Germany, Classical Music Festival Orchestra in Eisenstadt, Austria, the Cache Chamber and Cache Symphony Orchestras, Northern Utah Symphony Orchestras, as well as the American Festival Orchestra.
