Martha Ashleigh

Martha Ashleigh taught piano, music theory, Advanced Placement Music Theory, and composition in her private studio in California. She was a faculty member of Modesto Junior College where she taught piano, music theory, and music appreciation. Her students were consistent regional and state competition winners in both piano and composition.

Martha collaborated with Keith Snell in writing the widely popular series “Fundamentals of Piano Theory,” an 11-level series of workbooks that provide students with a solid understanding of music theory.

Martha was an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC). She served on the Certificate of Merit Council for the MTAC for several years and became state coordinator for the MTAC Certificate of Merit student evaluation program in 1996. Martha received her B.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her M.A. degree in music and education with an emphasis in composition from California State University, Stanislaus.
