Matthew Phelps

Matthew Phelps is currently music director at Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Church, and is artistic director of Women in Song in Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Phelps is also an assistant conductor with the Cincinnati Boychoir and is accompanist for the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati. Mr. Phelps has served as chorus master of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, where he prepared the chorus for critically lauded performances of Orff’s Carmina Burana, Verdi’s Othello, and Schoenberg’s Surviror from Warsaw. Mr. Phelps holds degrees in piano and choral conducting from Wright State University and the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. He was also a semi-finalist in the American Choral Director Association’s national conducting competition, and has studied with Earl Rivers, Steven Coker, and has participated in master classes with Dale Warland and Harry Christophers.
