Ronald Bennett

Ronald Bennett has more than 50 years of experience as a private music teacher (in Odessa, Texas). He also has an extensive background in church music and community theater productions. As a composer, Mr. Bennett’s piano works have been studied and enjoyed by thousands of students. Many of his early-level piano pieces have been selected for the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival bulletins. Ronald Bennett has also written many choral works as commissioned for special occasions. He has several published choral works.

In 2002, the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) named him Teacher of the Year. He served two 3-year terms as a member of the TMTA board of directors and recently served as a trustee of the TMTA trust fund. Mr. Bennett was named as a Music Teachers Association (MTNA) Fellow in 2009 and was awarded a 50-year membership pin at the same MTNA conference. He is active in the work of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Along with serving as president of a local (NFMC) club, he is past national chairman of the Glad Robinson Youse Adult Composer Contest and is serving as chairman of the South Central Region Junior Composers Contest.

Ronald Bennett has served as a judge for area, state and national piano competitions and for state and national composition contests. He has presented workshops for local teacher organizations as well as sessions at state conventions.

Mr. Bennett (NCTM) holds BM and MM degrees in piano from the College-Conservatory of Music of Cincinnati. He and his wife, Dortha, have one son who is an administrator with the Screen Actors Guild in New York City.
