Travis Freshner

Travis Freshner (b.1976) is one of the most versatile trumpet artists in the Pacific Northwest. He has performed in venues across the country with symphony orchestras, mixed chamber ensembles, jazz bands, rock bands, and leads his own horn-driven funk/fusion band, The Travis Freshner Band. He was a founding member of the critically acclaimed Bards of Stumptown and was once featured as a soloist with the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble.

In addition to his performances, Travis is also an experienced music engraver, editor, and orchestrator. His orchestrations and arrangements have been performed by the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic. He has arranged music for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Brass Band of Battle Creek, and the World Indoor Track and Field Championships. He has composed and recorded theme songs for five different podcasts, most notably Fake Doctors, Real Friends.

Mr. Freshner holds degrees from the University of Oregon (B.Mus., 1999) and Western Michigan University (M.Mus., 2001). He studied trumpet with George Recker, Stephen Jones, Scott Thornburg, and Laurie Frink. He studied conducting with Robert Ponto, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Robert Spradling. A highly sought-after clinician for both concert band festivals and Solo & Ensemble events, Mr. Freshner is currently the Band Director at St. Helens Middle School and Portland Community College (Rock Creek).
