Kathleen Lloyd

Kathleen Lloyd received her Bachelor of Music Degree at Utah State University where she studied string pedagogy, piano pedagogy, and piano performance with Gary Amano and Ted McCallson. Upon graduation she was the recipient of the Irene Peery Award — an award given to the outstanding piano pedagogy student of the year. After graduation she taught applied piano in the Utah State University piano department and the USU Youth Conservatory for 10 years. While employed at the USU Youth Conservatory she also taught every level of the theory classes and served on the committee for selecting curriculum for many years.

Kathleen lives in Smithfield, Utah with her husband, Paul--the fisherman who sings but can't read a note. Her two daughters are both talented musicians and teach the group theory lessons in her private music studio. They have blessed her life with five grandchildren and two fantastic sons-in-law.

Kathleen is an active clinician, performer and adjudicator and is a member and former president of her local chapter of the Music Teacher's National Association. She has enjoyed teaching both piano and violin for 30 years and currently maintains a large piano studio. For fun she plays the violin in the Cache Symphony Orchestra, American Festival Orchestra, and various string gigs that come up. She never tires of the joy of bringing music to others and shares her passion for music with the other members of the Con Allegrezza String Quartet.

Kathleen is the cranky woman who is the "Pun Queen" and inspires the corny jokes that liven up the theory and games!
